The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) store in the Broad Ripple neighborhood in Indianapolis will be permanently closing its doors in about 30 days, after having served the community for nearly seven decades.
Kroger’s Central Division says the store in the 6200 block of Guilford Avenue has not shown a profit for several years and “research indicates a turnaround is not realistic.”
The store opened in 1954 and employs about 40 workers.
Kroger says the staff will be offered opportunities at other Indianapolis stores.
